The initiative aims to raise funds and build relationships with philanthropic institutions, such as charitable foundations and non-profits, that support media projects aligned with AFP’s values and objectives.

AFP demands Israeli investigation after strike on its Gaza bureau

AFP is calling for an in-depth and transparent investigation from Israel into the exact extent of its army’s involvement in the strike that seriously damaged its Gaza bureau.


Agence France-Presse has taken note of the recent statements from the Israeli army spokesman concerning “an army strike nearby (the AFP office) that might have caused debris.”

At this stage, this statement on its own does not explain the extent of the damage caused to the AFP bureau, located on the top floor of an 11-storey building.

AFP photographer Christina Assi, who was severely injured on assignment last October in Lebanon, will carry the Olympic Flame on Sunday, 21 July, in Vincennes, France, "to pay tribute to those who have fallen" while doing their job as journalists, she explained.


Christina Assi, 29, was struck by a tank shell on October 13, 2023 while reporting on cross-border clashes between the Israeli army and armed groups in southern Lebanon, alongside six other colleagues.
